Elementary Assessment Advocates: Clarifying Proficiency and Student Facing Assessment Tools

The Independent School Inspector has operationalized (July 1, 2025) the Continuous Improvement Plan Order, mandating new standards for student learning data collection. These assessment mandates are now part of both Ministry and CISVA school evaluation processes. This year, your Elementary Assessment Advocates will have the opportunity to build on last year’s learning and strengthen their capacity to rapidly create and use student assessment rubrics and anchor charts aligned to learning standards, including through the use of AI.

Our goal this year is to increase efficiency and school team capacity in assessing student learning. Please register your Elementary Assessment Advocates and send them, along with a colleague (or two), to the full-day session. During the workshop, participants will clarify proficiency expectations, explore ways to make assessment tools more student-friendly, and experiment with AI-generated draft rubrics from calibrated success criteria. Time will be provided for hands-on application and reflection.

This session is intended for Elementary School Teachers and Principals. It will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025.
