In 2022–2023, the Catholic bishops of Canada renewed their commitment to truth, justice, healing, reconciliation, and hope, describing reconciliation as something that happens locally and across generations through prayer, shared life, and story. For the Church, reconciliation and justice are not occasional projects but part of its very identity, grounded in truth, mercy, and restored relationships. As the Church walks with Indigenous communities in Canada, she continues to affirm that “the path of the Church… is that of reconciliation,” healing wounded memories through genuine encounter.
