Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary’s Theatre program wowed audiences this winter with its spectacular production of Frozen: The Broadway Musical.

The ambitious production showcased the creativity and collaboration of the Carney community. The set featured an impressive Ice Palace measuring 52 feet wide and 16 feet tall, creating a stunning backdrop for the story of Anna, Elsa, and their journey of courage and love.

The production brought together 40 student performers on stage, 15 theatre production students working behind the scenes, over 15 art students, and a 27-piece orchestra made up of students and alumni performing beneath the stage, along with more than 150 costumes. Over 20 staff members contributed their time and talents to support the show.

In addition to the Drama, Theatre Production, Choral, Band, Art, Media Arts, and Graphic Design programs, many staff from other departments also volunteered their time and talents. With Producer and Director Mr. Charles Harris at the helm, the production team included Vocal Director Ms. Emmanuella Triveri, Orchestra Director Ms. Heidi Goetz, Stage Manager Mrs. Lori Vandebeek, choreographers Ms. Marleis Bowering Gares and Mr. Jesse Alvarez, Art Director Ms. Linda Reis, set construction by Mr. Justin Vandebeek and Mr. Adam Spindor; wardrobe, hair, and makeup coordination by Ms. Kaye Historillo, Mrs. Kim Park, and Ms. Mallory Schille; filming by Mr. Bill Kingsland, photography by Mr. Jose Lopez, window displays by Mrs. Jodie Sussex and Mrs. Alisha Wallsmith, and front-of-house duties by Ms. Katherine Luyten and Mrs. Sonia Lorenz. Staff and students collaborated for months to bring the beloved story to life. Student leadership also played a key role, with Audrienne Eguia, Alexander Evdokimenko, and Eliza Portugal serving as student stage managers.

The cast featured talented student performers including Keira Haley as Elsa, Alicia Malelang as Anna, Elio Shoemaker as Kristoff, Trinity Harris as Olaf, Nicole Way and Enqi Jiang as Sven, and Colin Renaud as Hans. They were supported by a large ensemble of student actors, musicians, crew members, and artists.

The result was an unforgettable experience for audiences. All four performances sold out, including the matinee for feeder schools, highlighting the strong support from the Carney community and the reputation for excellence in the school’s Fine Arts program.

Productions like this offer students the opportunity to grow in confidence, creativity, and teamwork while sharing their gifts with others. The success of Frozen: The Broadway Musical reflects the dedication of Archbishop Carney’s students, staff, families, and community supporters who worked together to create a truly magical production.
