Reine Sader Mykyte Honoured with Inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award

The Catholic Independent Schools of the Archdiocese of Vancouver (CISVA) proudly celebrated the recognition of one of its dedicated leaders, Mrs. Reine Sader Mykyte, who was awarded the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award by Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College at the University of British Columbia.

The award was presented by the Most Reverend Richard Smith, Archbishop of Vancouver and Chancellor of the Colleges, during the 2026 Convocation held on May 9, 2026. This milestone event marked the establishment of a new tradition honouring graduates whose lives reflect exceptional service to education and the wider community.

A Leader Shaped by Catholic Education

Mrs. Sader Mykyte serves as Principal of École Saint-Sacrement / Blessed Sacrament School in Vancouver, where her leadership has made a lasting impact on students, families, and staff. Her work reflects a deep commitment to Catholic education, rooted in faith, academic excellence, and community building.

Her own educational journey began at Corpus Christi College, where she studied from 1999 to 2001 and distinguished herself as Chair of the Student Body. As a member of the College’s earliest cohort, she played a role in shaping its student life during its formative years.

She later completed an extensive academic path, earning:

  • A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Vancouver Island University (2014)

  • A Bachelor of Education in French Language and Literature from Simon Fraser University (2005)

  • A Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Economics from the University of British Columbia (2005)

A Career of Service and Impact

Following her graduation in 2005, Mrs. Sader Mykyte began her teaching career and went on to serve in Catholic schools across British Columbia, including Our Lady of Fatima School in Coquitlam and Our Lady of St. Andrew’s Regional High School in Victoria.

Throughout her career, she taught students across both French and English programs, from kindergarten to Grade 12, demonstrating a wide-ranging commitment to student growth and learning. Her experience across grade levels and linguistic programs has enriched her leadership and strengthened the communities she has served.

Faith Beyond the Classroom

Mrs. Sader Mykyte’s dedication to Catholic education also extended beyond her school community. In Fall 2025, she took part in the Vatican’s Jubilee of Education in Rome, joining educators and students from around the world in a shared reflection on faith and teaching.

This global experience reflected her ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and to fostering a faith-filled approach to education in an ever-changing world.

A Meaningful Recognition

In recognizing Mrs. Sader Mykyte, the Colleges emphasized both her individual accomplishments and her connection to their history. As noted by College President Dr. Turcotte, her selection was especially meaningful given her role as a member of the first cohort of students at Corpus Christi College more than 25 years ago.

Her journey from student leader to accomplished principal stands as a powerful testament to the transformative impact of Catholic education.

A Moment of Pride for CISVA

Mrs. Sader Mykyte’s recognition is a moment of pride for the CISVA community. Her leadership embodies the values at the heart of Catholic education—faith, service, and excellence—and her work continues to inspire students and colleagues alike.

As CISVA schools continue to nurture future generations, her example serves as a reminder of the profound and lasting influence of dedicated educators who lead with both conviction and compassion.
